Stan Marshaus
Director
of Golf, PGA Professional
Born in Cleveland, OH, Marshaus
graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH in 1965. He went
on with post graduate studies at Edinboro State College, Cleveland
State University, and Kent State University. Marshaus taught
school in Painesville, OH, from 1965 to 1970, was golf coach,
basketball coach, and athletic director of the Painesville schools,
and was named their Teacher of the Year in 1970.
Marshaus began his golf career
at Acacia C.C. in Cleveland, held assistant positions at Lost
Tree G.C. in Palm Beach, FL, and at San Carlos G.C. in San Diego,
CA, and was the head professional at Cassadaga Country Club in
Cassadaga, NY, prior to taking over at Chautauqua Golf Club.
A PGA Member since 1974, Marshaus
received the WNYPGA Section Professional of the Year award in
1994 and the Merchandiser of the Year Award in 1987, 1991, 1994
and 1995 for his resort golf shop at Chautauqua. In 1996, Marshaus had the honor of playing
a round of golf with President Bill Clinton during a campaign
debate preparation at the Chautauqua Institution. He was inducted as the 20th member of
the Western New York PGA Golf Hall of Fame at a dinner at Ravenwood
Golf Club in Victor, NY on June 3, 2002. And in February of 2006,
Marshaus was inducted into the Chautauqua County Sports Hall
of Fame.
Stan is married to Anne Jackson
Marshaus. He has a son, Luke, and two daughters, Elizabeth and
Mary. |
